Child Care Assistance
Designed to pay a portion of child care expenses for families not meeting financial eligibility for Iowa DHS Child care assistance, the Child Care Scholarship Program assists eligible families who are working and/or attending school. A flat rate ($200/month for full-time and $100/month for part-time care) is paid directly to the child-care provider and the parent pays the remainder of the provider fee. Child Care Scholarships can assist families currently at 185% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. Parents are encouraged to make informed decisions regarding childcare arrangements. Child Care Scholarships/Empowerment payments can only be made to licensed centers or registered family day care homes that have been visited and approved by the Family Day Care Home Monitor located at the Department of Human Services.
