Get Involved

Here are some ways that you can be active in promoting the well-being of our children.

Educate yourself on your national, state, and local legislators and elected government officials. Having their contact information allows you to communicate with them on key issues regarding children in your community http://www.votesmart.org

See what legislation is being worked through the Iowa General Assembly and contact your public officials regarding issues that impact our community: http://www.legis.state.ia.us

Stay informed of important issues by following the Empowerment Board or Empowerment committee meetings. You can do so by reading the minutes and agendas or attending a meeting. See the calendar for the date and time of the next meeting.

Volunteer your time and talents at a local agency, organization, or school serving children. Many of these places frequently accept volunteers to assist in a number of capacities. This can be as simple taking the time to read with children.

With the uncertainties in the current economy, Scott County Kids - Empowerment has made it possible for private and institutional donors to support continued adequate funding for programs that help Scott County's most vulnerable little citizens. To contribute, please contact the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend and ask about dontations to the Scott County Kids - Empowerment account.
